In another view to care for a child is normal, as parents we do it anyway, even when they have grown and left home, to care for a disabled child must bring different challenges as a parent, you probably want to protect them even more yet still have to let them develop into independent people as every mother must, but you have to teach them how cruel some in the society they will live in can be, how to deal with it, how to have an even thicker skin than most but without making them feel cold, or not wanting to inter grate into that society, there seems to be a lot more role models out there for disabled children to see, someone like David Weir, Dame Tammy Johnson or Alex Brooker, people who have used their disabilities to their advantage.
The carer who has the hardest job for me is the child who looks after a disabled parent, whether an adult with a parent with disabilities or a teenager, the challenges they must face is enormous, I worked in an old peoples home before my back became bad, and your heart broke for some of the people, some might have been teachers, doctors all brought down by old age and having to rely on others to eat, sleep get dressed, imagine how heartbreaking if that person was your parent, for sure there must be heart warming moments and even funny moments, my nana said everyone's name, including pets, I'd say you'll get to me in the end, but the dog can't make a cup of tea. Most of our parents or Grandparents are our heros when we are small so to see them suffer is painful to say the least, but still has it's rewards in just seeing them smile or knowing they feel comfortable.
